Activate and use Stems

Find the model download in Library settings, activate Stems, and control vocals, drums, bass and other instruments.

Stems lets you mute or mix individual parts of a track in the DJ workspace. The model is a separate download: installing CueCart does not install it.

1. Download the model

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Library, then Media Storage.
  3. Find the Stems model section and click Download Model.
  4. Wait for Stems model ready and Verified and available offline.

The download is approximately 150 MiB and requires an internet connection. Once downloaded and verified, the model is available offline. If it is already ready, you can go straight to loading a track.

2. Prepare a track

Load a track into Deck A or Deck B and select STEMS in that deck's pad mode row. CueCart prepares the track's stems in the background. The model being ready and an individual track being ready are separate steps; allow preparation to finish before using the stem controls.

3. Mute or mix the parts

The first four pads control vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. Press a ready stem pad to mute that part; press it again to restore it. Use the mixer's VOCAL, INS and DRUMS controls to adjust levels. Drums and bass share one mixer level control, while their deck pads mute them separately. Pads five to eight are unused in STEMS mode.

Switch back to HOT CUES to return to the original mix and Hot Cue controls.

Use Stems on a Cue Pad

Stems is also available in Cue Settings, with choices saved for each Cue Pad:

  1. Alt+click an assigned Cue Pad to open Cue Settings.
  2. Open Playback → Stems and wait for Stems ready.
  3. Select the parts to mute: vocals, drums, bass or other instruments.
  4. Click Save to apply the choice to that Cue Pad.

Another pad using the same track can keep different Stems choices. These edits do not replace the original audio file or change the DJ deck's temporary mix. If the cue's stems cannot be prepared, playback uses the original mix and reports the fallback. See Cue Settings for gain, fades, loops and other playback controls.

If the download does not finish

Return to Settings → Library → Media Storage and read the model status. After a failed or cancelled download, click Retry. Cancel Download stops an active model download; it does not mark the model ready.

The Generated Stems Folder on the same page controls where generated track stems are stored. It is not the activation button; use Download Model to obtain the model. Changes to the generated-stems folder apply on the next app launch.
