Broadcast to Icecast
Save an Icecast destination, connect explicitly, and monitor the on-air state.
Audio · Updated 2026-10-06
CueCart can send its programme audio to an Icecast 2 server. Click Stream in the title bar to open Broadcast destinations (Icecast 2). You need a server and its source connection details from your streaming provider.
Add a destination
- Click New and give the destination a recognisable name.
- Enter Server Host, Port, Mount, Username and Password exactly as supplied by your provider.
- Select the Bitrate and Security mode.
- Fill in the optional Stream Name, Genre, Description and Website. Choose whether to list the stream in public directories.
- Click Save and read the result before connecting.
Use TLS required (encrypted) when your server supports TLS. Plaintext accepted (unencrypted) sends both the password and audio without encryption; select it only deliberately for a server that cannot offer TLS. CueCart does not silently downgrade a TLS connection.
Connect and watch the status
Select the saved destination and click Connect when you are ready to send audio. Check ON-AIR STATUS and its detail message; an attempted connection is not the same as an on-air connection.
Click Disconnect to end transmission. CueCart does not automatically connect on launch. A fresh session needs an explicit Connect action.
CueCart also sends playback metadata. Check the receiving server/player to confirm the programme and track information reach your audience.
Saved passwords and edits
A blank password box preserves an existing saved password; it does not erase it. Remove saved password is the separate removal control. A duplicated destination needs its own password because duplication does not copy it.
If Save reports that the password was not stored, enter it again before going on air. Revert reloads saved destination settings. These edits apply on Save, independently of ordinary application Settings' live controls.
Do not include passwords or private server details in screenshots you share.
